Have two characters from different teen drama’s united?! The rumors are true. Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester and The O.C.’s Adam Brody have officially tied the knot. This past week, in Mexico at St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, the couple secretly married. According to E! News, it was only a few weeks ago that Meester had her bachelorette party at Hamburger Mary’s, a popular restaurant in the West Hollywood area. It seems as though the two have been trying to keep the details under wraps, seeing as word only began to get around when Brody was spotted at LAX sporting a gold wedding band on his left ring finger.
It has been about a year since the couple was caught driving around with one another, trying to keep their relationship a secret. So, it is no surprise that they did not publicly announce the wedding details. Meester, 27, and Brody, 34, engaged back in November, multiple sources confirm. Until yesterday, the facts were scarce and no news was set in stone. TooFab caught up with Adam himself, who confirmed the marriage, quickly, on camera.
The newlyweds met on the set of The Oranges (2011), though their shows ironically had the same creator, Josh Schwartz. An insider says, “They were always close and friendly.” It seems they did not realize how close they actually were, that is until early last year. This December, the couple took a trip to South Africa, following their engagement. Known for keeping their relationship private, the two were spotted during their trip in the middle of Cape Town International Airport sharing a PDA.
Though this is the first marriage for both stars, they have each had their fair share of past relationships. Meester has previously been linked with Aaron Himelstein, known for Austin Powers in Goldmember, and Sebastian Stan, who starred in Captain America: The First Avenger. Adam Brody is thought to have dated writer/actress Lorene Scafaria. And more notably, he and his The O.C. co-star Rachel Bilson had also been with each other for a while.
We can expect to see the happy couple starring alongside one another in the upcoming film Life Partners, coming out later this year. Currently, Meester is in rehearsals practicing for her Broadway debut in Of Mice and Men, where she will be seen performing with James Franco and Chris O’Dowd. Meanwhile, her husband is in the midst of filming for his new movie Think Like A Man Too, directed by Tim Story.
As it seems Brody and Meester seem quite in love with one another. Hopefully, their relationship will last and not fall into the stereotypical Hollywood marriage category.
